Megan Moroney is the latest artist to debut a single from the star-studded Twisters album. She dropped a comment to the star of the upcoming movie, Glen Powell, as she debuted “Never Left Me” on Friday (May 31).
The reigning ACM New Female Artist of the Year said the ballad “was inspired by my childhood home,” and her first time writing music for a movie. Moroney, who grew up in Georgia, teamed up with Jessie Jo Dillon, Jessi Alexander and Connie Harrington to bring the song to life. Moroney added in the comments on her own Instagram post as she announced “Never Left Me” on Friday: “(Glen Powell call me).”
Twisters, directed by Lee Isaac Chung, will serve as “an update to the 1996 film 'Twister', which centered on a pair of storm chasers who risk their lives in an attempt to test an experimental weather alert system,” per its description on IMDb. The cast includes Powell, Katy O’Brian and Daisy Edgar-Jones, among others. Luke Combs was first to release a single from the album (“Ain't No Love In Oklahoma”), followed by Bailey Zimmerman (“Hell Or High Water”). The album also includes Miranda Lambert, Thomas Rhett, Megan Moroney, Lainey Wilson, Jelly Roll, Kane Brown, Shania Twain and many others. Both the album and the movie will arrive on July 19.
