Kane Brown took the stage at the 59th annual Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards in Frisco, Texas on Thursday (May 16) to prove that he is cool again (cool again) like he was last summer and to deliver a touching tribute to the one and only, Ray Charles.
The "Thank God" superstar serenaded the crowd with a breathtaking rendition of Charles', "Georgia On My Mind," as the entire stadium admired his talents in awe. The performance stood out as an extremely special tick on the country music timeline as Charles himself took the stage to perform the exact same song at the same award show nearly 40 years ago.
Brown donned a suit for the occasion and stunned the crowd with undeniable vocals to deliver the classic in only a way that Kane Brown could. The standout is currently on a U.S. tour and is slated to take the stage in Salt Lake City, Utah, for his next performance on Friday (May 17). The country king surprised fans by releasing a cover of "Georgia On My Mind" on Wednesday (May 15) ahead of the award show.
Other artists that took the stage at this year's ACM Awards included Reba McEntire, Thomas Rhett, Chris Stapleton, Parker McCollum, Jason Aldean, Laney Wilson, Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani, Kelsea Ballerini and Noah Kahan, and more! Fans can stream the magic that was the 2024 ACM Awards on Prime Video immediately following the live broadcast, and rewatch it on Amazon Freevee and the Amazon Music app the following evening.
