Parker McCollum is set to perform with “the King,” George Strait, in the same Texas city where he canceled a show “due to unforeseen circumstances.” McCollum confirmed on Tuesday morning (March 19) that he’s part of the lineup during Strait’s headlining show in June.
Strait will headline the concert at Kyle Field in College Station, Texas, with fellow Texans McCollum and Catie Offerman. This marks Strait’s first-ever concert at the venue, per the legendary country artist’s announcement on Tuesday morning. The “Check Yes Or No” hitmaker also noted that “this will be the one and only show in Texas this year,” slated for Saturday, June 15. Tickets will be available on Thursday, March 28 at 10 a.m. CT. McCollum said as he revealed details in his own announcement: “When the King calls, there’s nothing you can do but pick up.” He added in a post on X, formerly Twitter, that the show is taking place “on my birthday… of all days… hardest secret I’ve ever kept! WOW!”
McCollum stirred speculation about a concert with Strait at Kyle Field when he posted an acoustic cover on Monday afternoon (March 18). Strait posted a reel of his own around the same time, capturing many social media commenters requesting a tour stop in the Lone Star State.
The announcement comes after McCollum promised fans in College Station that his cancelation of an August 30 show “due to unforeseen circumstances,” would “all make sense at some point in the near future.” Some Instagram users commented on McCollum’s January 5 announcement, guessing that he and his wife, Hallie Ray Light McCollum, were expecting their first child. About a month later, the parents-to-be revealed Baby No. 1 is on the way: “Baby BOY McCollum! We love you, little cowboy 💙”
McCollum reiterated in his caption on Monday afternoon: “College Station, I told y’all it would all make sense.” See the show details here:
