Parker McCollum posted an acoustic cover of a George Strait ballad on Monday afternoon (March 18), and promised an announcement “tomorrow” morning. Instagram commenters quickly began casting guesses as to what McCollum’s video means.

McCollum posted his rendition of “Troubadour” at about the same time Strait posted a reel set to his classic country hit, “Write This Down,” capturing many social media comments from fans requesting a tour stop in his home state, Texas. Strait didn’t include a caption, but McCollum, a fellow Texan, commented with an emoji of a pair of eyes.

The posts come months after McCollum canceled a show originally set for August 30 in College Station, Texas, “due to unforeseen circumstances.” McCollum said at that time that “it’ll all make sense at some point in the near future.” Some Instagram users commented on that announcement, posted on January 5, guessing that the country star wouldn’t be able to take the stage at that time because he and his wife were expecting a baby. Sure enough, McCollum and his wife, Hallie Ray Light McCollum, announced about a month later that Baby No. 1 is on the way. They shared a sweet gender reveal shortly after making their announcement: “Baby BOY McCollum! We love you, little cowboy 💙”

“College Station, I told y’all it would all make sense,” McCollum wrote in his Instagram caption on Monday, teasing an announcement set for Tuesday morning (March 19) at 9 a.m. As of publication time, hundreds of Instagram users left comments on McCollum’s reel, including many predicting McCollum and Strait performing a show together in College Station this year

McCollum has previously expressed his appreciation for the King of Country, including by releasing his own rendition of “Carrying Your Love With Me,” revealing which Strait song inspired him to sing, and fulfilling his lifelong dream of opening for the country music legend.
