Carrie Underwood revealed what happens backstage to make her epic performance of “Something in the Water” happen during her Las Vegas residency at Resorts World Theatre. Underwood posted a video on her social media pages on Wednesday afternoon (March 13) to offer a glimpse of the fast-paced wardrobe change and set preparation in between songs.

The video, filmed by Jeff Johnson, is split between two screens. The top screen shows what the audience sees on stage, and the bottom screen shows what’s happening simultaneously behind the scenes. The video starts as Underwood is finishing a fiery rendition of “Before He Cheats,” one of the biggest hits from her 2005 debut album, Some Hearts. Underwood takes a seat in the wings to get help quickly removing her shoes, and takes off running down a flight of stairs and down a long corridor — high-fiving crew members along the way — until she reaches a dressing area behind a curtain. After her wardrobe change, Underwood ascends back to the stage on a platform as water begins to pour out around her and the song, from Underwood’s Greatest Hits: Decade #1 album in 2014, begins.

Underwood has previously shared some behind-the-scenes videos from her residency, REFLECTION. The residency opened in December 2021, with Underwood’s electrifying “Denim & Rhinestones Tour” in the midst of it. Underwood debuted the full-length album in June 2022, and expanded it with the deluxe edition in September 2023. She previously said that “REFLECTION is a show I’m so proud of and have so much fun performing. I love being out on the road with THE DENIM & RHINESTONES TOUR and look forward to returning to Vegas once that wraps, as it has become our home away from home where we get to play to audiences from all over the world.”
