Nate Smith unleashed a new country anthem to kick off the weekend on Friday (February 9), and revealed it’s the first track to release from his upcoming EP. Smith will release his 7-track collection, Through The Smoke, this spring.
“I’ve tried to outrun the pain of a heartbreak in so many different ways,” Smith said in a statement via his record label of the story behind “Bulletproof.” “And I feel like the only thing that can really get you through it is time. And just doing that self-care, that self-healing, and stuff so. That’s kinda what the song is about. Trying everything you can to outrun the pain of a heartbreak, but you can’t do it.”
“Bulletproof,” the first song to appear on the track list, is out now, following weeks of the California-born singer-songwriter teasing it with sneak peeks on his social media pages. Through The Smoke will release about a year after Smith’s debut full-length album made its arrival in April 2023. Smith also dropped a deluxe edition on the same day, totaling more than two dozen tracks. The album included “Whiskey On You,” “World On Fire” and other highlights. Smith later added his cover of Snow Patrol’s early 2000s ballad, “Chasing Cars” to the project.
