Kacey Musgraves revealed the release date of her next song after stirring anticipation for her forthcoming era during the 66th Annual Grammy Awards on Sunday evening (February 4). Musgraves announced on Tuesday (February 6) that her new song is slated to release on Thursday (February 8).

Musgraves posted a few photos on Instagram to make her announcement, including a snapshot of hand-written lyrics (including “my Saturn has returned,” “I found a deeper well,” and other previously-teased references to her next chapter), a photo of Musgraves recording music and more. The post was quick to garner thousands of reactions and comments as of publication time on Tuesday afternoon.

The Texas-born singer-songwriter hinted at her forthcoming era during the 66th Annual Grammy Awards, where she presented Lainey Wilson with the Best Country Album honor and made history as the first artist ever to win all four country categories at the Grammys. Musgraves shared a 2024 Grammy Awards commercial — a 30-second clip titled “My Saturn Has Returned” — and directed fans to her website, which lists “KM5” items available for pre-order. Her site reads: “The release date will be announced soon (before December 31, 2024).”

Musgraves’ highly-anticipated chapter will follow her latest full-length album, star-crossed, which released in September 2021. Since then, Musgraves has also released stunning renditions of “Can’t Help Falling in Love” and “Three Little Birds” from Elvis Presley and Bob Marley biopics, respectively. Those covers add to a long list of career-spanning hits from Musgraves, including “Rainbow,” “Merry Go ‘Round,” “Blowin’ Smoke,” “Follow Your Arrow,” “Butterflies,” “Golden Hour” and many others.
