Kelsea Ballerini posted photos from the 66th Annual Grammy Awards on Sunday evening (February 4), wearing a sheer black gown with bold cutouts and floral accents. Her boyfriend, Outer Banks star Chase Stokes, was unable to attend the awards show in L.A., but reacted to Ballerini’s Grammys post on Instagram.
“Yeaaaaah. I’m..so not okay,” Stokes, who is currently filming, wrote in a comment on Ballerini’s Instagram post on Sunday night. He shared the same photo on his Instagram story, writing that he’s “unwell,” and wrote “the record of the year. …I love YOU” on the next slide of his story. That one included the first photo he ever shared with Ballerini, when rumors of their budding romance began to swirl. Ballerini confirmed the relationship the following month, and they’ve since celebrated their one-year anniversary together.
Ballerini, who didn’t walk the Grammys red carpet because of weather and traffic, was nominated for Rolling Up The Welcome Mat, her deeply personal EP and accompanying short film that she released to share her story of heartbreak and healing after divorce. She told iHeartRadio’s Amy Brown during an exclusive iHeartRadio LIVE show over the summer that writing the EP was “definitely therapeutic,” and “necessary for me personally and my journey for making sense of my life at that time. And now, in this season, I’m learning that it was necessary for me to open up more as an artist and as a songwriter and learn that the more zoomed in I can get, the better it is all around. It’s been a huge learning experience and necessary.”
