RaeLynn got candid about how she balances her career as a country artist while remaining a dedicated wife and mother during a new podcast interview. The Texas-born singer-songwriter appears on the latest episode of Get Real with Caroline Hobby, “getting real” about becoming a mother, her time in the spotlight since competing on The Voice, family and more.
In a clip shared on Instagram on Tuesday morning (January 23), RaeLynn talks with host Caroline Hobby about why being a stay-at-home mother is considered a full-time job, and why she brings her daughter with her on the road. RaeLynn and her husband, Josh Davis, tied the knot in 2016 and welcomed their firstborn child, daughter Daisy Rae, on September 8, 2021.
“If you are a stay-at-home mom, that is a job,” RaeLynn said in her podcast interview with Hobby. “I obviously have help with Daisy. I have somebody that helps me with my day-to-day. There is somebody doing that job that I can’t do because I’m working. ...We pay somebody to help because it’s a job. So, when somebody says that being a stay-at-home mom’s not a job, I’m like, they’ve lost (their) ever-loving mind. It’s a job. Like, I don’t have a full-time nanny because I want to be a little uncomfortable. I want to — OK, if you need to meet with me, Daisy Rae’s gotta come. Alright, she’s coming to lunch. Go between ‘this time’ and ‘this time’ because she’s gotta nap, and you don’t wanna hang out with her when she doesn’t have a nap ‘cause I’m gonna leave her with you.
“I’m never gonna make her feel like she is not a priority, and I think, you know, that’s why I bring her on the road,” she continued. “I want Daisy to experience life with a mommy. I don’t want her to think, ‘she chose a career (over me).’ It’s good for her to know that mommy goes to work, whatever, but she is chosen. She is a part of this family. She is a part of my career, she’s a part of my life. She is not second. That has been the biggest thing for me.”
RaeLynn has recently teased unreleased music as she works on her third full-length studio album. Her latest album is BAYTOWN, named after her Texas hometown, which made its debut around the time Daisy Rae was born. Since then, RaeLynn has released singles like “What’s Wrong With That?,” “Raisin’ Me A Country Girl” and I Love My Hometown.”
