Ryan Hurd posted a video of his rendition of a Taylor Swift breakup ballad on Instagram on Monday morning (January 22). The Michigan-born singer-songwriter covered “Now That We Don’t Talk,” one of the From The Vault tracks that appeared on Swift’s 1989 (Taylor’s Version), which made its debut in October 2023.

“Every time I cover a Taylor song I am amazed at how perfectly they are written. Hope everybody has a beautiful week, let us know what you think of this one and share it with yo frands. (also, go listen to Platonic in honor of the second verse),” Hurd wrote in his caption when he posted his cover of “Now That We Don’t Talk” on Instagram.

Hurd referred to the verse that Swift sings: “What do you tell your friends we/ Shared dinners, long weekends with/ Truth is I can't pretend it’s/ Platonic, it's just ended.”

Hurd, who previously teased new music in 2024, included a track titled “Platonic” on his full-length album, Pelago, which released in October 2021. The 15-track collection’s highlights also include “Pass It On,” “June, July, August,” “What Are You Drinking,” and “Chasing After You,” a duet with then-wife Maren Morris about an on-again, off-again couple.

Morris, 33, filed for divorce from Hurd, 37, in October. They reportedly reached an agreement on all issues, including splitting time equally with son Hayes Andrew Hurd, who turns 4 in March, and $2,100 to Hurd every month in child support. Morris and Hurd married in March 2018 in Nashville, Tennessee.
