Scotty McCreery was fired up to write a high-energy country anthem that reminds him of the classic 90s hits he listened to growing up, including those by John Michael Montgomery and Garth Brooks. Now, he’s realizing how challenging it might be to perform the song live on his upcoming headlining tour.
McCreery was cycling when he posted a video on Instagram on Friday (January 12) to announce he’d released “Can’t Pass The Bar,” the latest song to make its debut as fans await his fifth full-length studio album. The North Carolina-born singer-songwriter said this one “is gonna be toughhh to sing live.”
“I just realized this morning, if I want to have any chance whatsoever at singing this song live, I better do a whole lot more of this,” McCreery said as he shared a glimpse of the bike. “See y’all on tour.”
“Can’t Pass The Bar” is McCreery’s first song to drop in 2024, and another that arrives as he gears up for his next chapter of music, following “Cab In A Solo.” The 2011 American Idol champ confirmed in April 2023 that his work on Album No. 5 was officially underway. The highly-anticipated project follows Same Truck, Seasons Change, See You Tonight and Clear As Day.
In August, McCreery released heartbreak anthem “Cab In A Solo,” which inspired the name of his headlining tour that kicks off this month. The first show is set for January 26 in Troy, Ohio, with stops in North Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, Massachusetts and other destinations. It wraps up on March 16 in Schenectady, New York. The tour will also include Anne Wilson, Greylan James and Noah Hicks on select dates. Listen to “Can’t Pass The Bar” here:
