“Hypothetically,” Dan + Shay stirred anticipation for a possible Christmas album when the award-winning duo posted an acoustic rendition of one of their holiday singles on Instagram on Monday evening (December 18). Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney stood in front of a stunningly-decorated Christmas tree as they performed “Pick Out a Christmas Tree,” which released in 2021.
Dan + Shay posted a video of the acoustic rendition and appeared to tease a full Christmas album in their caption, which some Instagram users said they’ve hoped the duo would release for a long time. They wrote in their caption:
“*Hypothetically speaking (😇)* if we were making a Christmas album, which songs should we put on it? In the meantime, here is a chill acoustic version of 'Pick Out a Christmas Tree' to hold you over. 7 days til Christmas! 🎄”
“Hypothetically but also very specifically several new originals and a lot of classics 🎅🏽,” Smyers added in a comment. Dan + Shay have released several Christmas songs over the years, including “Pick Out a Christmas Tree,” “Officially Christmas,” “Holiday Party” and others.
