Maren Morris publicly commented on her “ongoing” divorce from fellow singer-songwriter Ryan Hurd, and shared whether she’s open to dating anyone new yet.
The “Circles Around This Town” star reportedly filed for divorce, citing “irreconcilable differences,” in early October, after five years of marriage. Morris, 33, and Hurd, 37, tied the knot in March 2018 at a venue in Nashville, Tennessee. They share one child together, son Hayes Andrew Hurd, who was born on March 23, 2020. Morris and Hurd reunited at least once since separating, bringing Hayes trick-or-treating on Halloween. She posted a photo from that evening on November 1.
Morris said in a recent radio interview that she “cut all the trauma out of my hair. I think this year has — for a lot of people, not just me — a lot of people that are close to me have gone through it. I've known so many people that have gone through breakups or divorces.” Morris said her split from Hurd is “ongoing,” and while she’s not in the “headspace” to date again yet, she’s writing often as she navigates the breakup.
Morris’ latest music to release, a two-track EP titled The Bridge, arrived in September. The collection includes “The Tree” and “Get The Hell Out Of Here,” telling a two-part story that Morris said, “honors where I’ve been and but also feels like a forward step into the sun.” She previously said she’s been working “nonstop” on her next record, and realized these two tracks, “deserved a moment on their own - a story in their own right, written a day apart from each other - a tender duo and bridge to my next album.”
