Carrie Underwood is getting into the holiday spirit in Las Vegas.
The award-winning singer-songwriter returned to Vegas for the next round of shows in her residency, REFLECTION, and added a few Christmas songs to her setlist for the holiday season. Underwood shared some of the highlights of her first show back in Vegas in a reel on Instagram, set to her her 2014 hit “Something in the Water” and “Favorite Time Of Year,” which appeared on the extended version of her Christmas album, My Gift, in 2021. Underwood gushed over the energy from the audience and the Christmas music as she exited the stage at Resorts World Theater. Fan account CMU Fan also shared a video on X (formerly Twitter) of Underwood’s rendition of “Last Christmas” by Wham!, performed during REFLECTION.
Underwood has previously said that family and food share the spotlight during holiday celebrations. She spends “all day cooking…a ridiculous amount of food,” and “we wait for Santa and open our presents,” she said. “It’s all about watching it through my sons’ eyes and just getting to spend time with family.” Underwood shares her two young sons — Isaiah Michael, 8, and Jacob Bryan, 4 — with husband Mike Fisher.
Though she said she often opts to wait until after Thanksgiving to decorate for Christmas, Underwood said she decorated early this year because of her REFLECTION schedule.
“I think the ideal time to decorate for Christmas is the weekend right after Thanksgiving,” Underwood said. “It’s like Thanksgiving’s over, you just bust out all of the Christmas stuff. That’s when it really kinda starts getting chilly outside, and you get to start making fires in the fireplace and really start putting the Christmas presents under the tree. There’s nothing sadder than a Christmas tree up with no presents underneath it, so I don’t really think that you want to get your Christmas tree up too early, but this year I was a little earlier than normal because we had Thanksgiving and then head out to Vegas for my Reflection shows and I had to get everything up before I left.”
Underwood returned to Las Vegas for her latest REFLECTION show on Wednesday evening (November 29). Her final residency performances of 2023 are set for December 1-16 before picking up again in 2024.
