Ashley Monroe shared a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the day she recorded “Over Everything,” a stunning ballad that signals the dawn of a new era for the singer-songwriter. Monroe released “Over Everything” earlier this month. She shared the documentation of the recording process on Tuesday (November 28), sharing that “it’s been magical to re-live that day watching it back.” Monroe also added that her latest song is “only the beginning.”

“One of these nights while I’m sleeping/ I’ll get to wake up in my dreams/ I’ll be free from the weight that’s on my shoulders/ Learning how to use my wings/ To get over everything”

“Over Everything” marks the latest release from Monroe since she released The Covers, a 5-track EP, in September 2021. The project with Tyler Cain that includes Monroe’s renditions of “Don’t Worry Baby” by The Beach Boys, “Love Hurts” by Boudleaux Bryant, “Every Breath You Take” by The Police, “(Everything I Do) I Do It For You” by Bryan Adams, and “More Than Words” by Extreme. She said at the time that “these songs all live in a deep part of my heart and still feel fresh to me after years and years of singing them. I hope they touch your heart the way they touch mine.”

Monroe is readying her next chapter about a year after celebrating that she’s “officially cancer free,” after overcoming a rare cancer. Listen to “Over Everything,” and watch behind-the-scenes glimpses chronicled in the studio video here:
