Jay Allen and Kylie Morgan are celebrating their first wedding anniversary, and Allen penned a heartwarming tribute to his wife on Monday (November 27). The two singer-songwriters tied the knot last year in Fort Myers, Florida, after pushing their wedding day back because of a hurricane.

Now, Allen, an alum of The Voice, gushed over his “stunningly beautiful, wild and free, sushi and wine loving, mermaid cowgirl,” he wrote in an Instagram tribute as he shared a few photos from their stunning wedding day and a beach selfie. Allen reflected on his first breakup when he was 17 years old, and praying amid the heartbreak for “God to bring me a wife one day that would never let me feel that way again.”

Now, 20 years later, Allen has the wife he’s dreamt of for decades.

“I’m so eternally thankful to say He heard me… because, in His timing, my prayers have been answered and then some,” Allen wrote in his post for his wife, the Making It Up As I Go artist. “Kylie Morgan Allen, you are my real-life dream girl. Thank you for loving me and letting me love you. Thank you for guarding my heart and allowing me to protect yours. Thank you for kicking my stubborn a** sometimes and challenging me to be the best version of myself. And thank you for hearing me when I fight for you as well. We are polar opposites, and yet so much a like. You’re a little messy, and I’m OCD. You’re go-with-the-flow, and I like a plan. But like the waves and the sand, we crash into each other and just somehow fit. This morning I woke up to you in Hawaii. I’ve loved these last few days with you in paradise, but I honestly don’t care where we wake up, as long as it’s together. 12 months down, and because I know how God likes to answer prayers, cheers to an eternity more. I LOVE YOU, MY BRIDE.”

Before the wedding, Morgan spoke with iHeartRadio about her relationship with Allen. She said at that time that, when she met her now-husband, “for the first time ever, I didn’t have to apologize for what I do, (or) what dreams I’m chasing and the aspirations that I have.” She released a 5-track EP, Songs To Say I Do, chronicling milestone moments in their romance. Morgan wrote in the comments on her husband’s post: “Crying on a boat now 🥹 I love you. So. Dang. Much.”
