Kelsea Ballerini posted the video of her emotional reaction to her 2024 GRAMMY Awards nomination as the full list was revealed on Friday morning (November 10). Ballerini is up for Best Country Album for her deeply personal Rolling Up The Welcome Mat, which made its debut earlier this year along with an accompanying short film.
Ballerini sat on the floor with boyfriend Chase Stokes and others (and her dog, Dibs), who all cheered with arms outstretched into the air when the “HEARTFIRST” artist’s name was announced. One woman said, “that’s the one right there, baby girl. That’s the one.” Ballerini posted the video on Instagram with a crying emoji and heart emoji, writing “LOOK AT OUR ALBUM GO, [Alysa Vanderheym].”
Rolling Up The Welcome Mat told Ballerini’s story of heartbreak and her journey toward healing from divorce after nearly five years of marriage. Ballerini later extended the EP with Rolling Up The Welcome Mat (For Good), adding a seventh track about dating again after her marriage ended, and altering some of the previously-released tracks with extensions and fan-favorite lyric swaps.
