Jelly Roll admitted he was “embarrassed” to post his emotional reaction to learning about his 2024 Grammy Awards nominations on Friday morning (November 10), but he opted to share it with fans thanks to his wife’s encouragement.

The trailblazing Whitsitt Chapel superstar is up for Best New Artist and Best Country Duo/Group Performance for “Save Me” with Lainey Wilson, per the list of nominees revealed on Friday. Jelly Roll was in tears as he learned he’s up for a Grammy Award, and his wife, Bunnie XO, encouraged him to share his genuine reaction when he questioned whether to post it on Instagram.

“I’m embarrassed to post this but my wife says honesty and rawness got me this far … I’ll post a more complete thought about this when I get my head together,” Jelly Roll wrote in his caption. “I just never would’ve imagined.

“I’m not sure if I’ll post this or not because I’m so emotional, but the greatest honor an artist could ever hear is that they’ve been nominated for a Grammy. I got to hear that this morning,” he said in the video, wiping away tears. “I haven’t cried like this since my daddy died. I tried making this video seven times, y’all. I love y’all, man. So f***ing much.”

The Grammy nomination in the Best New Artist category comes two days after Jelly Roll received the New Artist of the Year award at the 57th annual CMA Awards on Wednesday evening (November 8) at Bridgestone Arena in Downtown Nashville, Tennessee. He took the stage with a powerful acceptance speech, and opened and closed the show with a performance of “Need A Favor,” featuring surprise guest Wynonna Judd, and “Love Can Build A Bridge” with K. Michelle from the A Tribute To The Judds album.

Jelly Roll’s video quickly garnered responses from fellow artists, including both members of Dan + Shay, Dan Smyers and Shay Mooney. Smyers wrote, “Congratulations brother, you deserve it all!” Mooney said, “No one ever deserved it more man. Love ya bro. 🙌❤️.” Ashley Cooke said she’s “so ridiculously happy for you jelly 🤍 keeping it real always,” Nate Smith assured that the nomination is “SO DESERVED,” and Hailey Whitters wrote, “we love you jelly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

“You’re a supernova papa- YOU DESERVE ALL THISSSSSS 😭😭😭😭,” Bunnie XO commented after encouraging her husband to share his genuine reaction.
