Chris Young revealed he had a black eye during the 57th annual CMA Awards on Wednesday night (November 8). The “Young Love & Saturday Nights” country star shared a video on Instagram the following day, showing the bruise he had — and the makeup to cover it up.

“I don’t know what to tell you guys. Sometimes you have an inflamed tear duct, and you’re trying to get it to go away, so you’re massaging your eye and it looks like you went five rounds with Tyson Fury. I’ve never had a black eye as an adult before. This is a first for me,” he said with a laugh. “But good news! They have makeup, and it can do this,” he continued, gesturing t o his face with the bruise expertly concealed. “So, CMAs it is, I guess.”

Young posted the video on Instagram on Thursday afternoon (November 9), writing in the caption that it was that it was “the [CMA Awards] pregame I didn’t want… but we made it! 😅”

Young took the Bridgestone Arena stage during the 57th annual CMA Awards, hailed Country Music’s Biggest Night, in Downtown Nashville Tennessee. He honored his high school music teacher with a sweet surprise, bringing her on stage and explaining in a pre-recorded segment that it was that teacher, Mrs. Gregory, who encouraged his passion for music. The star-studded awards show is now streaming on Hulu.
