Billy Ray Cyrus and FIREROSE tied the knot in a “perfect, ethereal” wedding earlier this month, though they credit their love story to an unlikely wingman who helped them meet more than a decade ago.
The newlyweds appeared on The Kelly Clarkson Show on Thursday (October 26), and reflected on the moment they met after host Kelly Clarkson congratulated them. FIREROSE said she was walking out of an audition in Hollywood when Cyrus’ dog at that time, a “beautiful” German Shepherd named Tex, introduced the two. FIREROSE told Clarkson that Tex “was tapped into some divine purpose because we were, you know, at the time just friends, and all these years later — that was like 14 years ago — all these years later, we just got married.”
“I love dogs,” Clarkson said. “They’re the best.”
Cyrus, 62, and FIREROSE, 34, previously told their story about Tex with PEOPLE, sharing that Cyrus was taking Tex outside while he was on the set of Hannah Montana. Cyrus said at that time that “in a lot of ways, we became friends,” and after writing music together during the pandemic, “it just evolved more into, as musical soulmates, to soulmates, happy, pure love that to me, I didn't know could exist.”
Cyrus and FIREROSE confirmed their engagement last November. They got married on October 10, which they said “will always be the beautiful, joyous day that our two souls united as one in holy matrimony. It was the most perfect, ethereal celebration of love we could have ever imagined.
“For both of us to hear the preacher say, ‘Billy Ray and Firerose Cyrus… I now pronounce you husband and wife’ that was the sacred moment our new forever began,” they said as they shared their first wedding photos on Instagram. “Long Live Love! ❤️♾️”
