Cassadee Pope reimagined one of her smash-hit heartache anthems a decade after its initial release. This time, “Cassadee’s Version” revives the song with a fresh twist by turning the country single into a song with a pop-punk-, rock-infused production elements. Pope released the new version of “Wasting All These Tears” on Friday (October 13).
Pope said the single “completely changed my life” when it released 10 years ago on her 11-track record, Frame By Frame. The The Voice alum opted to celebrate the anniversary by putting a new spin on it to reflect the music she’s making now. Pope kicked off a new era in her career earlier this year with “People That I Love Leave,” making a switch from country to the pop-punk, rock genre that Pope displays in the new “Wasting All These Tears.”
“It’s here! ‘Wasting All These Tears (Cassadee’s Version)’ is out,” Pope gushed in a TikTok she posted as the single’s new version made its debut. “This song completely changed my life. It came out 10 years ago this year, so I thought, what better way to celebrate it than to redo it and do a new version. This version is very much in the same vein as everything I’m doing right now. I didn’t call it ‘rock version’ because I felt like it’s more sentimental than that. You know? Kinda taking back the song. And I don’t know if it’s just me, but I think the rock production suits the lyrics even better than country ‘cause they’re angsty. But anyway, I’ll let you decide for yourself. …I hope you love this new version.”
