Gabby Barrett shared a long-awaited announcement more than a year after she shared one of the first teasers from her highly-anticipated sophomore studio album. The country singer-songwriter reminded her social media followers of a snippet of an unreleased anthem she’d previously posted, and finally revealed the name of the song and its release date.
Barrett asked in a reel she shared on Instagram on Sunday (October 1), “do y’all remember when I posted this clip right here?” The country hitmaker and soon-to-be mother of three played the sneak peek to remind her fans, and announced that “this song is coming out (on Friday) October 6. It’s called ‘Cowboy Back.’”
Instagram users gushed in the comments that the teaser is “givin me 2000 Shania Twain Vibes 🥹.” Others commented: “YESSS!!! I’ve been looking forward to this song for so long 🔥❤️,” “So excited for this incredible song, love you!!!! ❤️❤️,” and “I replayed that clip so many times! LETS GO!!!🔥🔥,” to list a few.
Barrett posted the clip on Instagram on September 28, 2022, confirming that she was working on Album No. 2. She wrote in her caption at that time: “What do you want to hear? Who do you want a duet with?” She’s since shared sneak peeks and behind-the-scenes glimpses in the studio, including some photos posted on Instagram last week hinting that she’s “announcing something very soon.”
Barrett’s next full-length project follows her debut album, Goldmine, in 2020, and its deluxe edition in 2021. That project included highlights like “I Hope” (which also got a reimagined version featuring Charlie Puth), “Footprints On The Moon,” “The Good Ones,” “Pick me Up” and others. Barrett kicked off her next era earlier this year with the release of her heartfelt single “Glory Days,” sharing an intimate glimpse of her life at home with husband and fellow American Idol alum Cade Foehner and the couple’s children, Baylah May and Augustine Boone.
