Carly Pearce shared a sweet reaction when singer-songwriter Kat Luna posted a cover of the smash-hit heartache ballad, “What He Didn’t Do.”
Luna posted a video of her acoustic rendition of Pearce’s 29: Written In Stone single over the weekend: “Everybody's asking what the hell happened/ Wonderin' why it all went wrong/ Mama always said, ‘If you can't say something nice/ Then don't say anything at all’/ And I've got my side of the story and he's got his side, too/ So I ain't gonna go and tell you what he did/ But I'll tell you what he didn't do
“Treat me right, put me first, be a man of his word/ Stay home 'cause he wanted to/ Always fight for my love, hold on tight like it's something/ That he couldn't stand to lose/ The devil's in the details, I won't tell the hell that he put me through/ All I know is in the end, it wasn't what he did/ No, it was what he didn't do”
Pearce comments on Luna’s Instagram post with several “heart eyes” emojis, and Luna gushed in response, “Aww thank you so much 🥹❤️,” (one Instagram user even hoped for a collaboration between the two artists).
Pearce released “What He Didn’t Do” on her latest full-length record in 2021. She premiered the music video for the fan-favorite anthem last year, which she said was “the perfect way to end my chapter of 29.” Now, she’s readying fans for her next era of music, including with recent releases “Country Music Made Me Do It” and “We Don’t Fight Anymore,” featuring Chris Stapleton.
Luna is a solo singer-songwriter, though fans might also recognize her from the former duo Kat & Alex. The duo previously announced that they would part ways, and “it would mean the world to us to have your continued support on our individual journeys. We love y’all so much.” Listen to Luna's rendition of Pearce’s “What He Didn’t Do” here:
