Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood are nearing two decades of marriage, and the country music power couple has a word of advice for others — particularly, for Good Morning America anchor Robin Roberts and her longtime partner and fiancée Amber Laign.
Brooks and Yearwood jokingly delivered their best tips for a happy marriage, including when the “Friends In Low Places” star said advised, “one of you has to be f***ing miserable,” and Yearwood responded, “That's right — and I am not happy!” Brooks also advised, “never go to bed mad at each other,” to which his wife replied, “what, did you Google that?”
“Why are they asking us?” Brooks laughed in the video shared by Entertainment Tonight. Yearwood exclaimed, amid her own laughter, “I have no idea!”
Ultimately, however, the beloved husband-and-wife duo shared a heartwarming word of advice as they congratulated Roberts and Laign: “Marry your best friend.”
Roberts and Laign are set to get married in September. They recently shared that they began dating when a friend set them up on a blind date nearly 20 years ago, and they got engaged last year. Brooks and Yearwood tied the knot in Oklahoma in 2005. They'll celebrate their 18-year wedding anniversary in December.
