Ty Herndon and fiancé Alex Schwartz tied the knot over the weekend in a stunning wedding ceremony in Middle Tennessee, just outside Nashville.

The country star, who announced his engagement earlier this year, told PEOPLE that the wedding was “country chic,” donning formal black and white suits while celebrating at a breathtaking Tennessee farm. Herndon described Owen Farm as a “beautiful property outside of Nashville that sits on the banks of the Cumberland River,” located in Chapmansboro, Tennessee, next door to late country artist Don Williams. “We just wanted a space and a place that could accommodate our eclectic group of friends and family to celebrate love, life, and our future together. That was the main thing that was important to us — and that everyone have a lot of fun.”

Hendon announced his engagement to Schwartz in February, after about six months of dating while remaining out of the public eye. He posted a few photos taken by Nashville music photographer and director Jeremy Ryan as he shared the “big news.”

“The last six months God has showed up and showed out. Never in a million years would I have imagined meeting someone who would bring so much love and light into my heart.,” Herndon said at the time. “Alex and I met six months ago and had our first date. Since then, we have been building our relationship and getting to know one another without a big public announcement. It was important to each of us that we be able to do this privately, and it has been an amazing journey. After all this time, I have met the person I know I’m gonna spend the rest of my life with.”

The Soundboard with Ty Herndon host said in an interview with iHeartCountry earlier this year that he “never thought in a million years that I could be this happy. So, you can bet your sweet country music butt that I’m gonna pay that forward,” he laughed. “I don’t think I’ve ever said that before!”

“I love his goofiness, his heart, his loyalty, the way he looks at me, the way he holds me, and the way I feel safe with him,” Herndon told PEOPLE of his new husband. “And I pray to God that I am all those things to him. He has taught me how to love better and how to be a better human.”

Herndon posted a few of his wedding photos shared by PEOPLE as he thanked “family and friends for making it unbelievably special!”
