Sara Evans penned a heartwarming tribute to her firstborn child as he celebrates his birthday on Monday (August 21). Avery Schelske is officially 24 years old.
Evans posted a series of photos on Instagram, including throwbacks of her son as a baby and a few recent snapshots — including a few with siblings Olivia Schelske and Audrey Schelske — to celebrate the occasion. She wrote in her caption:
“Happy 24th bday to my first born child! Avery, you are so unbelievably amazing as a human being! You are so kind and generous and such a man of honor! I am so proud of you and so grateful God allowed me to be your mom! Everyone adores and loves you! Most of all ME! Thank you for being one of my best friends and an amazing son! I love you so much and wish the very very very best for you in all that you do! Happy Birthday!”
“Thank you Mom! Love you! ❤️❤️❤️,” Avery wrote in the comments as dozens of Instagram users quickly began to share birthday wishes.
There’s a lot for the “Born To Fly” artist to celebrate. Evans’ birthday tribute to her son comes shortly after she was invited to become a member of the Grand Ole Opry during a sold-out show at the historic Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, where she marks the 20-year anniversary of her 2003 album, Restless. Evans jokingly said “no” before accepting her invitation from longest-serving Opry member and Country Music Hall of Famer Bill Anderson — with Carly Pearce and Lady A on stage — before emotionally accepting the invitation: “I’ve been waiting to be asked to join the Opry for a long time, and it’s always been a dream of mine. And I’m so honored that you’re here to ask me that question. Thank you. It means everything to me.”
