Megan Moroney marked an epic full-circle moment in a sentimental TikTok on Monday (August 21). The “I’m Not Pretty” songstress reflected on the time she bought pit tickets to see Old Dominion perform with Thomas Rhett in 2017. Now, about six years after attending that concert, Moroney join Old Dominion on a duet that made its debut on Friday (August 18). She said as she reflected on that full-circle moment on TikTok: “if only younger meg knew 🥹😭💕”c
Moroney joined Old Dominion on the band’s latest heartbreak ballad, “Can’t Break Up Now,” a song that sees the artists attempting to save their rocky romance because “we’ve got too much history” to split up. Old Dominion said as the song released that Megan’s a really intuitive singer, but she’s also a very smart songwriter. The way she came in and put her stamp on ‘Can’t Break Up Now’ blew our minds.”
Old Dominion’s frontman, Matthew Ramsey, and Moroney began to tease the collaboration earlier this month. They posted selfies wearing one another’s merch and hinted at the duet with vague clues in the captions, “CBUN” and August 18.
“Can’t Break Up Now” is one of 18 tracks that will appear on Old Dominion’s next full-length album, Memory Lane, set to release on October 6. The collection will also include “I Should Have Married You,” “Some Horses,” “Easier Said With Rum” and more.
