Kelsea Ballerini reminisced on the intimate connection she shared with thousands of her fans during performances of “Penthouse” on her recently-wrapped “HEARTFIRST Tour.” The country star premiered the video for “Penthouse (Healed Version)” on Wednesday morning (August 16).
The video captures Ballerini’s powerful performances and crowds of concertgoers singing along to every word of the fan-favorite ballad from Rolling Up The Welcome Mat, the 6-track EP she released on Valentine’s Day with an accompanying short film that she wrote and directed with co-direction by P Tracy.
Ballerini’s “Penthouse (Healed Version) [Live]” appears on Rolling Up The Welcome Mat (For Good). She released the extended edition on August 11 to reflect changes to a few of the original tracks and add a seventh one, “How Do I Do This,” to tell her story about dating again after ending a nearly five-year marriage. One of the original RUTWM songs to get an update since its February release is “Penthouse,” with changes coming after Ballerini sings: “It hurts putting sh*t in a box/ And now we don't talk/ And it stings rolling up the welcome mat/ Knowing you got half.”
“I kissed someone new last night/ But now I don't know where you're sleeping, baby,” changes to “I don't care where you're sleeping, baby,” in the healed version of the song. Ballerini made the lyric change during “HEARTFIRST Tour” stops, and videos widely circulated on social media. She also held out the final lyric of the song during live performances: “I just bought the house that we saw/ You said it was wrong, I wanted it all along.”
“(Rolling Up The Welcome Mat) was necessary for me personally and my journey for making sense of my life at that time,” Ballerini told iHeartRadio’s Amy Brown during her exclusive iHeartRadio LIVE show in Nashville, Tennessee. “And now, in this season, I’m learning that it was necessary for me to open up more as an artist and as a songwriter and learn that the more zoomed in I can get, the better it is all around. It’s been a huge learning experience and necessary.”
Ballerini is set to perform a special iHeartLand show in Fortnite and Roblox. During Ballerini’s exclusive show in iHeartLand, fans can see the country singer-songwriter perform live, as well as open up about her music and more during a special Q&A hosted by Brown. Fans can experience Kelsea Ballerini in iHeartLand in Fortnite and on Roblox for two days only, starting Friday, August 18th at 7pm ET/4pm PT.
