Megan Moroney served as singer-songwriter, actress and co-director for the first time in the new music video for “I’m Not Pretty,” which premiered on Wednesday (August 9). The Georgia-born artist donned a Barbie-worthy gown and white boots to perform the country anthem about her ex-boyfriend’s current girlfriend who seems determined to tear her down.

Moroney shared in an Instagram caption on Wednesday that she teamed up with photographer and videographer Jeff Johnson to co-direct the video, which also stars the “Tennessee Orange” hitmaker’s best friends, Natalie King, Alexandra Kolea and Becca Turner, among others. The group doubles as “nice girls” and “mean girls” in scenes throughout the video. Moroney said her first-ever co-directing experience “was so magical/insane to see ideas that used to just live in my head be brought to life so seamlessly.”

“Somewhere out there my ex boyfriend’s new girlfriend’s scrolling through my Instagram/ Tearing me down passing the phone around like there’s nothing better to talk about/ Zooming out, zooming in, overanalyzing/ Like the queen on the mean girls committee/ But hey whatever helps/ Keep on telling yourself I’m not pretty”

“I’m Not Pretty” is one of Moroney’s latest single to release from her debut album, Lucky, a 13-track project that arrived in May. The album’s highlights include “I’m Not Pretty,” “Lucky,” “Tennessee Orange,” “Girl in the Mirror” and more. Find the full album here, and watch Moroney’s new, co-directed music video here:
