Alan Jackson reflected on his romance with his wife, Denise Jackson, after more than four decades of marriage. The heartwarming story comes as the country music legend marks the 20-year anniversary of one of the biggest hits of his career.
Jackson shared the story of his classic ballad “Remember When,” and his life with Denise in a clip shared on Instagram on Thursday (August 3). Jackson, who has known his wife since they were kids, also shared how his love story has resonated with fans who have cherished the beloved song over the years:
“Denise and I met as kids, and all that’s true, and most of that is just reflections of our life and some of to looking ahead. But I’ve had so many comments saying, ‘hey, that’s one of my favorite songs,’ or ‘that’s our song,’ I have so many couples come up and say, ‘that’s our song,’ all that stuff. And how many times everybody said, ‘remember when?’ You know? ‘Remember when we did this?, ‘Remember when we did that?’ So, again, it connected with a certain audience, I guess.”
Since tying the knot in 1979, Jackson and his wife have raised three daughters: Mattie, Ali and Dani. Their first grandchild, a boy named Jackson Alvie Bradshaw (Ali’s son with husband Sam), was born in December 2022. Earlier this year, Jackson appeared on his daughter’s podcast, In Joy Life with Mattie Jackson, and sweetly spoke about how “our whole family” brings him joy.
“We got a lot of history together now, and we’re happier than we’ve ever been,” Jackson previously said of his wife. “So, she’s still beautiful, and she’s always inspired songs. I mean, one of my early hits was a song called ‘I’d Love You All Over Again,’ I wrote for her for our 10th anniversary [released in 1990]. I mean, there’s been a zillion songs that have pieces of our good days and bad days inspired, and they continue to.”
