Tim McGraw hopes to be someone’s heartwarming memory in the latest track to release from his forthcoming record. McGraw debuted the bittersweet anthem “Remember Me Well” on Friday (July 21), sharing the perspective of someone reflecting on a former flame and wondering whether they’re a positive memory to that person, too.
“Remember Me Well” comes shortly after McGraw teased that he would share another track from the upcoming album, Standing Room Only, produced by McGraw and Byron Gallimore, and revealed the track list on Thursday (July 20).
“If you're gonna drink to me, drink tequila/ If you’re gonna think of me, think of that balcony/ On the corner of 5th and Eviston/ Like we're back in that beach motel again/ It wasn't just wasted time wе spent together/ Wе had a few moments worth forever/ If you're gonna love me, don't keep it to yourself/ If you're gonna hate me, tell me go to hell/ If you're gonna forget me, find someone else/ If you're gonna remember me, remember me well”
McGraw kicked off his next chapter of music with “Standing Room Only” earlier this year, describing the lead single as a song that’s “so positive and life affirming,” he said at the time. “I hope it can be a reminder to live a life filled with gratitude, and not take things for granted. …I hope you love the message as much as I do.”
The country music giant followed his heartfelt single with “Hey Whiskey,” a song that he said displays “raw emotion” in away unlike ever before: “There is just something special about this song. Anyone that knows anything about my history knows it’s very personal to me. When we were recording the track, the vocal performance captured a raw emotion that I hadn’t experienced before. In fact, it was the first take we laid down for the album, and it felt so authentic that we decided to keep it as is.”
