Carly Pearce and her longtime boyfriend, Riley King, have parted ways.

Pearce confirmed that the couple split up after two years of dating. They recently celebrated their birthdays and anniversary week with a trip to Napa Valley. Pearce said in a recent interview with PEOPLE: “For the most part, (the relationship) was great. People date to see if they're gonna go the distance, and we weren’t. We just simply were not right for each other, and that's the bottom line. I am on such a beautiful journey, and I am really excited about the next chapter of my life.”

She also clarified that the rumored reason for the breakup, trust issues, is “absolutely not why we broke up.” The Grammy Award-winning artist also added that her soon-to-release heartbreak ballad, “We Don’t Fight Anymore,” is not about her relationship with King. Pearce noted to PEOPLE that she wrote the song “a year ago, when I was ridiculously in love. …There is absolutely not a correlation to what is going on in my life in the moment at all.”

Pearce recently announced that “We Don’t Fight Anymore,” a collaboration with Chris Stapleton, will release on Friday, June 16, signaling the beginning of her next era after 29: Written In Stone.

“This song embodies a place that I think, if we are honest with ourselves, we’ve all felt at some point in a relationship,” Pearce said of the song. “The distance that feels heartbreaking, yet you’re also indifferent. I’ve always been a writer who never wanted to shy away from the ‘uncomfortable’ moments in all of our lives, and this song feels too important not to share. [Chris Stapleton], you made my dreams come true by lending your incredible talents to this song.”
