Carrie Underwood Shares Why It's 'Totally Different' To Perform In Vegas

Carrie Underwood often fields the question: is it better to hit the road on tour, or to perform her Las Vegas residency?

Underwood is gearing up for her next leg of REFLECTION: The Las Vegas Residency dates after wrapping up her nationwide “Denim & Rhinestones Tour” in support of her latest full-length album. The award-winning country powerhouse shared that she doesn’t prefer one show or the other. Instead, she makes the most of getting to do both.

“I’ve had lots of people ask me if I love touring more or love the Vegas residency more, and I’m like, ‘they’re two totally different things.’ Both are awesome in their own ways,” Underwood said in a video she shared on Instagram on Tuesday (May 23). “In Vegas, at the theater, it is a little more intimate. I do get to, I feel like, connect more with more audience members because they’re literally feet from me. We can have some more things in our Vegas show that we can’t necessarily take on the road with us. And an arena show is just a different vibe. So, both are equally as fun, but in different ways. And I’m super excited to get to come back to Vegas. I’m excited that I get to do both things. I think that’s a really cool thing to be able to switch it up and keep everybody excited all the time.”

Still, Underwood has delivered plenty of jaw-dropping performances that appeared even stronger than before after she first began the REFLECTION shows last year. That includes aerial work and swinging from a trapeze in the “Ghost Story” music video, among others.

“I think everything that I do I learn from along the way and get to add certain things to my, you know, my bank,” Underwood said, per her record label, before kicking off the “Denim & Rhinestones Tour” last year. “You learn what works in different areas and what doesn’t work in other areas. And I feel like our Las Vegas residency Reflection has definitely taught me a lot. I feel like it helped a lot in the confidence department, in my confidence department, because we got to put together just this incredible show. You know, it wasn’t necessarily just a concert, it was a show and I love that. I feel like there’s so many elements of that that I’m gonna take with me as we plan and ultimately take the ‘Denim and Rhinestones Tour’ out on the road. So, I’m excited to see what we do with everything that we’ve learned, and I think it only makes me a better performer and artist. So, it’s gonna be good.”

Here are Underwood’s 2023 REFLECTION dates, hosted at the 5,000-capacity Resorts World Theater:

“I’m thrilled to be returning to Resorts World Las Vegas next summer,” Underwood previously said in a statement. “REFLECTION is a show I’m so proud of and have so much fun performing. I love being out on the road with THE DENIM & RHINESTONES TOUR and look forward to returning to Vegas once that wraps, as it has become our home away from home where we get to play to audiences from all over the world.”
