Danielle Bradbery opened up about wrestling with feelings of anxiety in “Monster,” her latest ballad that made its debut on Friday (April 28).
“We all face our own type of Monsters in our life and for me that was anxiety,” the The Voice alum shared when she announced her song’s release date on Instagram earlier this week. “I wrote this one from my heart both for me but also for any of you who have dealt or is dealing with any mental health struggle.”
“Woke up with that feeling in my gut/ I’ve been starting fights and s*** for months/ Hurts so bad, I'm scared of waking up/ With you again/ And I hate you and I hate who you make me/ You turn me into someone I can't stand
“You always lie to me/ Then you lie down with me, you won't leave/ And you're so unhealthy, you're breakin' me/ Messin' with my head/ It feels like a bad dream/ And I wonder why I can't sleep/ When you're here, 'cause I know the monster/ He ain't under the bed/ ‘Cause he's in it with me”
“Monster” is Bradbery’s latest new song to release, following “Stop Draggin’ Your Boots,” “Break My Heart Again” and “A Special Place,” which she released with anticipation for more music: “I’m always so pumped to share what I’ve been working on. Like I said before, I’m just so ready for y’all to hear this era of music so let it begin!!” Listen to “Monster” here (warning: language):
