Thomas Rhett is gearing up for a night that he knows he’ll “tell my grandkids about one day.” The award-winning country artist is adding a second hometown show to close out what’s sure to be a high-energy tour this year, he announced on Monday (April 24). In September, Rhett is set to perform back-to-back nights at Bridgestone Arena in Downtown Nashville, Tennessee.

"It’s always a dream come true to play your hometown,” Rhett said in a statement. “But getting to play the arena two nights in a row is going to be one of those things I tell my grandkids about one day.”

Rhett’s “Home Team Tour 23” is set to kick off on May 4 in Des Moines, Iowa, at Wells Fargo Arena. The tour spans 40 cities in 27 states before coming to a close in Music City in September. Rhett previously announced plans for the nationwide trek with a creative video on his social media channels, revealing at that time that he’s teaming up with a previous tour mate, Cole Swindell, and rising “Whiskey On You” star Nate Smith to perform the “Home Team” shows.

The Where We Started superstar said in an Instagram caption — on a post set to his 2015 hit, “T-Shirt” — on Monday morning that the added Nashville show comes after fans sold out the first performance date, which was set for September 29. The second show is slated for the following night: “NASHVILLE! Y’all SOLD OUT our first [Bridgestone Arena] show… so we’re adding a second on 9/30! Closing out the tour with a 2 night home town party is a dream.”
