Maddie Font turned to TikTok users to seek advice from fellow mothers as she prepares to welcome her firstborn child this fall. The Maddie & Tae singer wanted to know about unmedicated vs. medicated birth experiences as she makes decisions to deliver her son.
“Calling all mommas that follow us,” Font said on the duo’s TikTok account on Tuesday (April 18). “I am five months pregnant, and I am still barely showing because it’s my first. But I am going back and forth on whether or not to have a medicated or unmedicated birth. I know some of y’all might think I’m crazy for considering unmedicated, but I’ve been doing a lot of research and I feel like there’s pros and cons to both. So…if you are willing to share what your unmedicated or medicated birth was like, just let a sister know. I’m just taking all of the advice and experiences that I can learn from.”
Font also encouraged TikTok users to “not judge each other” for their decisions. She said “there’s no wrong choice here. Everyone is different, everybody’s body is different, everyone’s delivery is different (and) everyone’s story is different.” She reiterated in her caption to “please be gentle and kind to each other as we all have different views and experiences,” and before long, TikTok moms began to weigh in with their stories and congratulated Font again on her pregnancy.
Font announced earlier this month that she and her husband, Jonah Font, are expecting their firstborn baby, a son, to arrive in September. She wrote in an instagram caption at the time that “Jonah & I are over the moon and feel so blessed we get to be this little man’s parents.”
The Maddie & Tae singer also shared that she told her duo partner, Taylor Kerr, about the pregnancy first (even before she told her husband). Font said she was “dying to tell somebody, and I was gonna try to wait until Jonah got home so he could be the first (to know), and then I just couldn’t. So, I told her and she was the first one to know! In pure, best friend fashion.”
