Luke Bryan reflected on the beginning of his passion for music as he uses his expertise to help mentor contestants on American Idol. The award-winning country superstar began his musical journey at 14 years old, getting a guitar and going on to play country and classic rock music in a high school band. Bryan posted a clip on TikTok as he shared his story, going from a 14-year-old to serving on the panel of celebrity judges alongside Lionel Richie and Katy Perry, on the smash-hit talent competition show hosted by Ryan Seacrest.
“(I) kind of went through college playing, and after college I went and worked with my dad a couple years,” the Georgia native said. “Finally, I moved to Nashville when I was about 25… Six years ago, seven years ago, some of the producers of American Idol wanted me to partner up with Lionel, and Katy, and Ryan, and be one of the judges. Since then, it’s been really fulfilling for me, and amazing to guide these kids in their first — in some of their first — steps of their musical journey.”
Bryan is known for anthems like “That’s My Kind Of Night,” “One Margarita,” “Country On,” “Rain Is A Good Thing,” “I Don’t Want This Night To End,” “Sunrise, Sunburn, Sunset,” “Country Girl (Shake It For Me),” “All My Friends Say,” “Kick The Dust Up” and tons of other career-spanning hits. American Idol airs on ABC on Sundays and Mondays at 8 p.m./7 p.m. CT, streaming on Hulu.
Bryan is part of the all-star iHeartCountry Festival lineup on May 13, at Moody Center in Austin, Texas. Fans across the country will able to tune in to all of the incredible live performances at this year's iHeartCountry Festival as the event will be broadcast on iHeartRadio country stations nationwide, and on iHeartRadio.com as well as the iHeartRadio app on Saturday, May 13th at 8pm ET/5pm PT.
