Chris Janson clearly got some “Good Vibes” from an American Idol contestant’s performance of one of his biggest country anthems. Elijah McCormick took the stage in Hawaii as he delivered a high-energy, vibrant performance of “Good Vibes,” getting the whole crowd waving their arms in the air and the panel of celebrity judges — Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan — smiling and swaying along to the music.

“I'm gettin' them good vibes/ I’m livin' this good life/ I’m breathin' on God's time/ And I ain't gonna waste one breath/ I’m soakin' it all up/ I got me a full cup/ And there ain't nothin' gonna spill it/ Nothin' gonna kill it/ Wavin' them worries goodbye/ I’m feelin' them good vibes”

Janson released the smash-hit single in 2019, on his 14-track studio album, Real Friends. Bryan tweeted that McCormick kicked off the latest American Idol episode “with good vibes in Hawaii,” and wanted to know, “what ya think [Chris Janson]?”

“Absolutely loved it!!” Janson exclaimed in a now-pinned tweet on Monday evening (April 17). “My phone is blowin up!!! Everybody go and VOTE NOW!”

Janson, who recently released his newest song and music video on National Beer Day, also posted a screenshot of the tweet on Instagram, and encouraged his social media followers to vote for McCormick on his Instagram story. McCormick, 21, is an Ophthalmologist Technician hailing from Raeford, North Carolina, per his American Idol bio. American Idol airs on ABC on Sundays and Mondays at 8 p.m./7 p.m. CT, streaming on Hulu.
