Shania Twain, Miranda Lambert, Lainey Wilson, Breland, Orville Peck and other artists took a moment to delve into what country music means to them. The group of nearly a dozen singer-songwriters who have blazed their own trails in the genre spoke about their personal ties to country, sharing how each one has had unique — yet, oftentimes, very relatable — stories to tell.

The full list of artists sharing their stories include Twain, Lambert, Wilson, Breland, Peck, Trixie Mattel, Mookie Betts, Brittany Broski, Ingrid Andress, Enola Bedard, and Joy Oladokun. Global icon Twain, for example, said that to her, country music is “part of a lifestyle.” Reigning Academy of Country Music Entertainer of the Year Lambert spoke about the joy she finds in the music. Oladokun deemed the genre “the sound of home,” similarly to Betts, who reflected on growing up listening to country music. Breland, Peck and Andress each spotlighted the storytelling in country, which often seems unmatched in any other genre.

Their stories come shortly before the 58th ACM Awards, set to take place in Texas next month. Dolly Parton and Garth Brooks will join forces to co-host the show, hailed as “Country Music’s Party of the Year.” Parton recently gushed that she’s “thrilled to return to host the ACM Awards,” and to team up with Brooks at this year’s show.

The 58th ACM Awards will take place at Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas. It’s set for Thursday, May 11 at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT/5 p.m. PT.
