Old Dominion premiered “one of the most ambitious videos we’ve ever put out,” bringing one of their latest smash-hit anthems to life in a new way on Wednesday afternoon (March 22).
The “Memory Lane” music video, directed by Mason Allen and Nicki Fletcher, set the scene for a song that has become special to the band. Old Dominion wrote in a tweet: “There are so many memories and very personal touches intertwined in the visuals. It’s a special one to us and we hope it is to you too.”
Old Dominion released “Memory Lane” earlier this year, along with a few other songs — “Easier Said With Rum,” “Ain’t Got A Worry” and “Freedom Like You” — just as they kicked off their ongoing “No Bad Vibes Tour.”
“Thinkin’ ‘bout those sunsets that bled into jean jacket nights/ Those tangled up mornings lost in paradise/ Still drunk on the feeling when I close my eyes/ You’re pulling me closer, your head on my shoulder/ We’d never let go and we’d never be over”
“Sometimes, when I’m feeling overwhelmed, or missing someone, or maybe just feel a little nostalgic, there are places in my mind I can go that are full of memories of simpler times,” lead vocalist Matthew Ramsey explained as the song released. “It’s a location, or a person, or a feeling that will always live in my memories and I can close my eyes and transport myself there anytime I want and experience it all again. I think we all have that time in our life that will remain forever perfect in our hearts. Sometimes we wish we could just stay there and never leave.”
