Tenille Townes teamed up with legendary singer-songwriter Bryan Adams to release a powerful duet and accompany thing music video: “The Thing That Wrecks You.”
Townes teased her mystery duet partner on her social media channels, including in a reel on Instagram on February 21, days before the song made its debut. She said in the video that “a legendary artist is singing with me on my new song, all because I took a crazy shot,” she shared of the story behind the song. Though she didn’t reveal Adams’ full name, viewers might’ve caught a handwritten letter addressed, “Dearest Bryan.” “I met this person passing randomly on a staircase at a studio while filming a Hallmark movie. After we left, it hit me that it would be amazing to have him singing with me on a song. But the only contact I had was that studio address. So, I wrote out a letter, burned a CD, and FedEx’ed it to him. Two days later, I got an email from this person and he said ‘yes,’ and tomorrow, I get to tell you who it is.
“This is not a drill. BRYAN ADAMS IS SINGING ON A SONG WITH ME!!!” Townes gushed when she revealed that she worked with Adams on the new song.
“We're running down a darker road/ Where even angels fear to go/ And stars fall like a lonely tear/ When they're crashing through the atmosphere/ It looked just like a dream come true/ But love can lead you straight into/ The thing that wrecks you/ The thing that wrecks you”
