Kelly Clarkson performed a stunning rendition of Ingrid Andress’ heartfelt ballad, “Blue,” during the latest Kellyoke segment on Wednesday (March 1). Clarkson’s breathtaking cover on The Kelly Clarkson Show comes as Andress is days away from releasing the deluxe edition of her album.
“Blue” was one of the tracks included on Good Person, which made its debut last year. Andress sings the track as a sentimental tribute to the joys of falling in love: “It’s like I’ve never seen the ocean/ Or a Bud Light neon sign/ Like I’ve never seen a California swimming pool/ A faded pair of Levi 505s/ Thought I’d know just what to call the color of the Colorado sky/ But looking in your eyes it’s like seeing blue for the first time.”
Good Person captures a range of emotions throughout the track list, pivoting from heavier feelings to brighter perspectives about halfway through. Some other fan-favorites on the album include “Good Person,” “Seeing Someone Else,” “Pain,” “Feel Like This” and more. Andress, whose tour is now underway, is set to drop the Good Person deluxe album on Friday (March 3), she reminded her social media followers in an Instagram post on Wednesday.
Clarkson covers tons of fan-favorite songs spanning genres and decades during the Kellyoke segment, including songs by several country artists. She’s also performed another one of Andress’ songs before, her debut single “More Hearts Than Mine.” Listen to Clarkson's latest rendition here:
