Jimmie Allen shared an acoustic rendition of a heartfelt tribute to his hometown. the award-winning singer-songwriter performed the song in a vide shared to his social media channels on Wednesday evening (February 8).
“New Song ‘Roads I Grew Up On’. For me its Cave Neck road in Milton Delaware and Savannah Road in Lewes Delaware. Tell me the Roads y’all grew up on,” Allen wrote in his Instagram caption, which quickly drew comments from fans reflecting on their own hometown roads in Ohio, Arizona, Delaware, Georgia, Florida and more. Others gushed over the song itself (“Them 90’s vibes!!!!!🔥”), and applauded Allen’s “unreal” performance in North Carolina that evening.
Allen is currently on Carrie Underwood’s headlining “Denim & Rhinestones Tour,” which recently kicked off with its second leg after concluding 2022 shows in November. Allen previously told iHeartRadio that the tour “has been awesome,” including getting to sing with Underwood in addition to performing his own powerful setlist each night. Allen — who released his latest full-length project, the 17-track album Tulip Drive, last year — has previously teased other songs on his social media channels, including the heartfelt ballad “If I Still Love You,” “Smalltown Anthem” and others. He also released a duet with Callista Clark, “Wish You Wouldn’t,” portraying an on-again, off-again couple conflicted with their emotions.
