George Strait took a moment to pay tribute to officers on National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day on Monday (January 9), sharing a snippet of his previously-released anthem, “Weight of the Badge.” Strait encouraged his social media followers to tag “someone in law enforcement who you believe carries [the weight of the badge]” in the comments.

The legendary country music artist premiered the “Weight of the Badge” music video in October 2021, on National First Responders Day. The project features first responders, including police officers, and their families as they share personal stories throughout the video. Between the interviews, Strait sings:

“He swore that oath to protect and serve/ Pours his heart and soul into both those words/ Lays his life on the line/ And the line he walks is razor-fine/ Tempered strength is always tough/ But he ain't gonna buckle under the weight of the badge”

“The men and women in this music video are our friends and neighbors who carry The Weight of the Badge each day,” Strait said in a statement as he debuted the music video. “Thank you. We appreciate you and the sacrifices you and your families make.”
