Shania Twain kicked off the weekend a day early by unleashing a dance-worthy anthem to make listeners get on their feet (ideally, in the perfect pair of cowboy boots, of course).
“Giddy Up!” marks the latest song to release from Twain’s highly-anticipated sixth full-length album, Queen of Me. The international superstar described the track as “another taster of what you can expect from the album,” as it debuted, along with an official dance video, on Thursday (January 5).
“The saying ‘Let’s Go Girls!’ is such a wonderfully uplifting sentiment now, but it’s just something I said during the recording in the studio and I guess that’s the same for ‘Giddy Up!’,” Twain said in a statement. “These lines come to me when I’m thinking about how to put a little ‘pep in my step.’ I want people to feel good when they hear the new album. I want to set a celebratory tone and ‘Giddy Up!’ is a way to call to the audience and say ‘let’s get ready for some fun!'”
“Smiles for miles/ All up on my face/ Wear it, share it/ ‘Cause we ain't got time to waste/ Up and we giddy up/ Giddy, giddy up/ Up and we giddy up/ Drunk in the city/ Got a litty in the cup/ Up and we giddy up!/ When we get stuck/ Gotta give a little love/ It's up and we giddy, giddy up!”
Twain added on Instagram: “Giddy Up! represents the ‘night on the town Shania’ whose prerogative is just to have a little fun and go totally crazy!! I wanna see you tearing up the dance floor in your best cowboy boots to this one - Go listen now!”
Queen of Me is about a month away from its long-awaited release. It’s set to debut on February 3. Twain already kicked off her new era — which she’s ready to enter with a feeling of “renewed confidence” — with “Waking Up Dreaming” and other tracks. In April, the country-pop icon will kick off her global “Queen of Me Tour,” bringing Kelsea Ballerini, Lindsay Ell, Hailey Whitters, Breland, Robyn Ottolini, Priscilla Block, and Mickey Guyton on select dates.

“These days, I'm feeling very comfortable in my own skin - and I think this album reflects that musically,” Twain said as she announced her album and tour in October. “Life is short and I want to be uplifted, colorful, unapologetic and empowered. I want to carry a clear message, particularly as a woman, to always remember my power and I hope the songs are a reminder to you, of that same power inside you!
“I want to celebrate this new chapter with you all on my tour!” Twain continued. “Vegas has been a dream, but I’m ready to be on the road and sing with you, dance with you and have a kick a** night out with you! This one's gonna be a big party - no inhibitions, no conditions, let's get a little out of line!!
“I’ll be Queen Of Me – you be Queen of YOU! 👑”
