Kenny Chesney shared a heartwarming tribute to his late dog, Ruby, releasing “Da Ruba Girl” on Friday (December 9). The song that honors Ruby will also serve as a way to help other dogs, the country superstar explained.
Chesney previously announced on his social media channels that all proceeds from “Da Ruba Girl” would go to the nonprofit organization, Stray Rescue of St. Louis. Chesney said that Ruby “was an unbelievable dog. She meant a whole lot to a whole lot of people. …Ruby’s life is gonna pay it forward, if you will, through this song. … I’m very, very proud of that.”
“Losing Ruby has left a hole there are no words for…” Chesney wrote on his social media channels on Friday. “To honor her life, it only makes sense to let ‘Da Ruba Girl,’ the song she inspired, pay it forward by helping the incredible people at [Stray Rescue of St. Louis]. Ruby was everything good, and in her memory, this is her way of continuing to give and bring love where it’s most needed.”
Chesney announced on Sunday (December 4) that Ruby died after a battle with cancer. He wrote a heartfelt tribute in memory of his “heaven of a dog.”
