Brothers Osborne and The War And Treaty brought a bit of rock to the Country Music Association Awards with a stellar cover of a Rolling Stones classic.
John and TJ Osborne rocked the CMA Awards stage in Nashville on Wednesday (November 9) alongside married duo Michael Trotter Jr. and Tanya Trotter, setting Bridgestone Arena on fire with a mega-talented performance of "It's Only Rock 'n' Roll (But I Like It)."
The Trotters' powerful vocals paired incredibly well with Brothers Osborne's smooth, deep tone as they gave fans a hint of what to expect on Stoned Cold Country, a 60th anniversary tribute to the Rolling Stones by several of country's biggest stars. The album will drop next year and features covers by the likes of Brooks & Dunn, Maren Morris, Jimmie Allen and many more, per Stereogum.
The War And Treaty spoke to Billboard ahead of their CMA Awards debut and why their collaboration with the brother duo works.
"We've been friends with Brothers Osborne prior to this, and we've talked about touring with them," said Tanya. "This project came along and it was the perfect timing, and with us both being duos and both being from Maryland, there were a lot of things in common."
The Rolling Stones cover isn't the only collab fans have enjoyed from Brothers Osborne. In September, the duo and Ashley McBryde shared cryptic posts on social media teasing a potential project, which later turned out to be their song "Play Ball" from McBryde's fifth studio album Ashley McBryde Presents: Lindeville.
The night also held one more surprise, this time for everyone watching. John Osborne made the surprise announcement that he and his wife, Lucie Silvas, are expecting twins.
