Jason Aldean is getting into the holiday spirit as he releases his first-ever Christmas song on Friday (November 4). The reigning iHeartRadio Music Awards Country Song of the Year winner shared his powerful spin on “Christmas in Dixie,” a nod to some of his biggest musical idols.

“The band Alabama has been really influential on my career, so it’s cool to get to give a nod to my musical heroes with the first Christmas song we’ve ever put out,” Aldean shared when he announced the song’s release on Instagram on Friday. He sings on the track, released by Alabama in 1985: “Christmas in Dixie, it's snowing in the pines/ Merry Christmas from Dixie to everyone tonight.”

Aldean has previously paid tribute to Alabama over the years, including by performing “Tennessee River” on the Alabama tribute album, Alabama & Friends, in 2013, a press release announcing Aldean’s new Christmas song noted. Other artists featured on that album include Toby Keith, Luke Bryan, Trisha Yearwood and many others. Aldean also nodded to Alabama with his Academy of Country Music Honors performance in 2015, delivering his rendition of some of the band’s biggest hits.
