Jimmy Fallon is wasting no time getting into the holiday spirit. The actor and comedian made a festive announcement while hosting The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Halloween on Monday night (October 31), sharing that he’s keeping his tradition alive by releasing another Christmas song — and this time, he teamed up with a country music legend on the duet: Dolly Parton.

“Guys, last year, I released a holiday song with Ariana Grande and Megan Thee Stallion,” Fallon said on The Tonight Show. “And I wanted to keep that tradition going, so I’m announcing that I’m releasing another holiday song this year.

“I thought, ‘what better day to announce it than Halloween?’” Fallon continued. “People have that debate. After Thanksgiving, people have the debate. They go, ‘Can we listen to holiday music? Can we listen to Christmas music? Is it too early? Can we put on Mariah Carey now?’ I say, yeah, if it’s good, you should be able to. So, I thought it’d be kind of fun if I put out a song and released it around Halloween for the holidays.”

Fallon and Parton — “a music legend” and “one of my favorite people of all time,” the comedic late night show host said — teamed up for the upbeat track, “Almost Too Early For Christmas.” Fallon shared a snippet of the duet, alternating lines with Parton as they send a message to the “haters” that it’s OK to start celebrating:

“It’s almost too early for Christmas/ Too soon to be singing this song/ There’s still Halloween decorations/ And haters will say that it’s wrong/ Let’s turn on the lights for Mariah/ Tell Rudolph to shine up his nose/ It’s almost too early for Christmas/ But why don’t we see how it goes?”

Parton has also been getting into the Christmas spirit with the release of her A Holly Dolly Christmas Deluxe album, which released on October 14. Fallon appeared as one of the collaborating artists on Parton’s A Holly Dolly Christmas collection, featured on a duet of “All I Want For Christmas Is You.” Fallon is also among the star-studded list of musical guests to appear in Parton’s upcoming Dolly Parton’s Mountain Magic Christmas special, which is set to air on NBC on Thursday, December 1 at 8 p.m. ET. The two-hour holiday special will also include Willie Nelson, Billy Ray Cyrus, Jimmie Allen, Zach Williams and Miley Cyrus as musical guests.

Fallon and Parton will debut “Almost Too Early For Christmas” on Friday (November 4). Listen to the sneak peek here:
