Carly Pearce responded to a Twitter user who criticized her music.

The Twitter user, Donna, wrote that the singer-songwriter “needs to reread this over and over until she understands therapy is ok vs seeking social attention. All of the division she has caused among the country family and fans over this is so sad. There’s 3 sides to every story. Hers, his, and the truth,” Donna wrote, adding a broken heart emoji. Her tweet referred to a statement: “Your personal problems require personal solutions, not social attention.”

Pearce’s latest album, 29: Written In Stone, released last year. The collection includes honest and emotional heartbreak tracks, including “Never Wanted To Be That Girl” with Ashley McBryde and “What He Didn’t Do,” among others. The heartache anthems followed Pearce’s divorce from fellow singer-songwriter Michael Ray. Pearce wrote in her response to Donna (who appears to be a fan of Ray’s):

“Oh Donna, it’s sad that you’re twisting my way of getting through the hardest season of my life for something negative. I welcome you to come to any of my shows and see the impact this album has made on people going through hard things. I’ll even leave you a ticket!”

Pearce filed for divorce from in June 2020, ending the relationship after dating since 2018 and eight months of marriage. Pearce has been open about the “awful” split, while Ray said in a previous interview: “I don't wanna relive it. I don’t wanna sing about it. I don't wanna go back to it. So why don't we all move forward and let's put out a record that shows the growth, not the stagnant part of life.”

Pearce has often shared clips from her performances that capture audience members singing back every word to “What He Didn’t Do,” and many who have shared how Pearce helped them through their own breakups and divorces (some even chimed in as they replied on Twitter). Pearce has recently seemed to hint at the next chapter of her career, as she speaks about the “end of the '29' era.” See her tweet in response to Donna here:
